Texercise Select

Texercise is a statewide intergenerational health promotion and fitness program developed by DADS to educate and involve individuals and communities in physical activity and proper nutrition.  The program promotes individual activities and community events, as well as work-site wellness initiatives that support fitness in all areas of life.  The Texercise website hosts fitness and nutritional resources and an online calendar of activities around the state.

Program Goals:

  • Multi-component intervention which utilizes the following activities:
    • -Physical exercises (30-45 minutes): endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility
    • -Brainstorming and problem-solving
    • -Goal-setting and action planning Physical and Nutritional logs

 

Target Audience:

  • Older adults and families interested in becoming physically active and improving nutritional habits

 

Program Description:

  • 10 week program
  • 90 minute classes
  • 2x/week

Program Delivery:

  • Two trained leaders
