The Texas Active for Life® Coalition (TALC) is committed to supporting the following activities to help achieve our vision for a healthier tomorrow in Texas (adopted from National Council on Aging's State Policy Toolkit for Advancing Fall Prevention):
- Increase awareness about health issues impacting older Texans and prevention/management strategies
- Increase provider participation in prevention/management practices
- Increase funding opportunities and investments for prevention/management
- Enhance data surveillance collection, analysis, and system linkages
- Increase availability and accessibility of community programs and services
Evidence-Based Programming
To reduce the high cost associated with chronic disease and falls, evidence-based programs (EBP) have been implemented across the state. These EBP have been rigorously evaluated and found to promote health and wellness and/or prevent negative health consequences. Below is a list of EBP that are either currently being provided in Texas or encouraged by the TALC:
- A Matter of Balance (AMOB)
- Otago
